Approach to AI

It's important to strike a balance between leveraging the benefits of AI in education and preventing its misuse or overreliance. These methods can help you control AI tool usage in the classroom while promoting responsible and ethical technology use.

Get Familiar with AI

  • AI Tools & Terms.
  • Brainstorming, drafting, coding, prompt formats, outlining, titling, edit your text.
  • Explore how to use AI to make teaching easier, provide feedback, design better instructions.

Update and state your AI policy in the syllabus

  • Establish clear and comprehensive policies regarding the use of AI tools in the classroom. Communicate these policies to both students and educators to set expectations for when, where, and how AI tools can be used.

Redesign your assignments

  • Ask yourself, "How can AI be incorporated?" or "How do I want to deter the use of AI?".

Educate Students

  • Inform students about the potential misuse of AI tools and the consequences of violating classroom policies. Encourage responsible and ethical AI usage.

Promote Offline Learning

  • Incorporate activities and assignments that require students to work without the use of AI tools. Encourage more traditional research and problem-solving methods, such as using printed materials or face-to-face discussions.

Encourage Critical Thinking

  • Teach students critical thinking and information literacy skills so they can evaluate the reliability of information and sources they encounter online, including AI-generated content.

Focus on Human Interaction

  • Emphasize the value of human interaction and teaching expertise. Highlight the importance of teachers as mentors and guides in the learning process, emphasizing the limitations of AI.
